The Dirty South!

This past summer Austin chose to manage his office in Columbia, South Carolina. So we moved down south. Two words--"Dirty South." Austin managed an office of about 15 guys and 1 girl--the best part--I was that 1 girl! Yes, you got that. I was an official door to door sales-woman or as we like to say "door knocker". I sold security systems...and I did a pretty dang good job at it too...with Austin's help of course. We lived in a cute little apartment in Columbia and spent most of our days knocking doors in Cola or Georgia. On our days off we played at Charleston beach or Myrtle beach-- the water in the Atlantic ocean is lovely! It is amazingly warm and had great waves for body surfing. I love the beach and would love to one day live near one. Anyway, back to knocking doors--I honestly felt like I was on a mission of sorts--I met a lot of crazy people and I have a lot of funny stories. I also met some awesome people who said I was "sent from above" to bring them security and protect their home and family. Who would have thought security system selling could bring about many prayers---let me just say the south is definitely the bible belt. People would pray with me, for me and there were definitely prayers on my part to get me through the day. All in all it was a crazy adventure--one that I will never forget. Austin and I had a very successful summer and we are excited to do it again this upcoming summer. Austin will be managing an even larger office this next summer which is great but I will be sitting this one out--I've had enough door knocking for a lifetime (Austin is my hero for being able to do it year after year--this will be his 4th year!) Our office is tentatively going to be in NYC this upcoming summer which is absolutely WONDERFUL! We are SO excited to live in our favorite city!
