Love at First Sight!

Our story is romantic and serendipitious. Fate, or something more powerful, brought Austin and I together in New York City summer of 2006. We met in the Manhattan ward on sunday afternoon. He was in NYC on a weekend trip (he was managing an office in DC at the time) and I was there visiting friends and interviewing for a job. We spent the rest of that sunday walking around NYC. At the end of the night I found out that he served his mission in Guatemala. Which was so cool because I studied there when I was finishing my bachelors degree. The next day I changed my ticket for a week later and he came and picked me up (he drove over 10 hours to pick me up) and I spent the week staying with my friend in Virginia so I could get to know Austin better. After that I moved to Arizona for the rest of the summer and I flew out to DC a couple of times to visit him. We had a ton of fun in DC together and within weeks knew we wanted to be together forever. He surprised me on my birthday and flew out to see me in Utah and we bought our first home even though we weren't engaged yet! I thought he was going to be in DC until the end of October but he surprised me again at the beginning of October and drove to Utah and proposed to me at his families cabin (His parents tricked me into believing it was a "get to know the family" weekend). The proposal was so romantic...it had been raining all the way down to the cabin but just as we got there the sky cleared up. As I got out of his dads truck our song--Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol--was playing on loud speaker. There were a bunch of lights in the trees and leading a pathway to the back of the cabin by the lake. At that time I began to suspect that maybe Austin was surprising me by being there but I still had no idea he was going to propose (He pulled the "your ring isn't ready yet" trick that I should have seen right through). Anyway when I walked to the back of the cabin he was sitting there with his guitar playing our song. I immediately ran and hugged him and before I knew it he was on one knee. It was the happiest moment of my life--and it's all on film. Little did I know his dad was right behind me the whole time with a video camera, it's a little shakey but our videographer turned it into a really cool old fashioned film to play at the reception. I wish I could upload the proposal video but for some reason it isn't working. Anyway, I never believed in love at first sight until I met Austin. After I spotted Austin for the first time at that church in manhattan I had told my friend Jill and her husband that he was going to come talk to me (even though he was on the other end of the chapel). They didn't believe me but shortly thereafter he made his way to the back, walked right up to me, stuck his hand out and introduced himself--to just me--he didn't say anything to the rest of the people I was with. After he introduced himself me and my friends left and then about 20 minutes later we saw him again outside of the chapel and once we learned we were both from Utah we knew that there was something special between us-- we were engaged within 3 months--it was fast but when you know its right, you know. =) Now we've been married almost a year--time goes by so fast--and we love each other more everyday! =) I LOVE YOU AUSTIN FOREVER & ALWAYS xoxo
