We went to the show last week and it was such a fun experience--especially because the show is live--(it was Austin's 2nd time going) but the coolest part happened after the show. It started like this... we had until a certain time to pick up the tickets or they would be given to someone else and well, let's just say that I got on the wrong subway (I don't know how because they are so easy to navigate) and didn't get to the theatre until 3 minutes to the deadline. It was a miracle that I made it but I still have major blisters that will probably haunt me for the rest of the summer (do not wear new shoes--even if they are super cute--while running 10 blocks...why didn't I think of putting on the flip-flops hiding in my purse until after running all that way?)!
While Austin was waiting for me he was doing what he does best-making friends with some of the employees and sharing funny stories with them-Austin shared a couple of funny stories of his own and they told him to write one in particular down for the producer to read. Austin did all this unbeknownst to me and right after the show he got a call from the producer's assistant asking him to come audition to be on the David Letterman show!!! The story could end there and still be one of the coolest stories ever but it gets even better... He went and auditioned and they loved him (who doesn't) and they asked him to come tell his story on the show! They are making a new funny story segment and he will be one of the first, if not the first, to do it! They don't know when they are going to be incorporating this new segment so it may not be for awhile but I will definitely let you all know when it is because I know you all want to see MY HUSBAND TELL A STORY ABOUT SLAPPING A MAYOR ON THE BUTT ON THE DAVID LETTERMAN SHOW! (James, you in particular will want to watch this one!). I am so excited...for him and for me to be able to go with him to the taping of the show!
Austin broke the "no photography" rule and took this picture of me with his i-phone right after the show.
