Austin isn't a big fan of Valentine's day because he says he doesn't need a holiday to show me that he loves me. "He loves me everyday." I, on the other hand, love Valentine's day for that same reason--it's a holiday in which it is acceptable to be super cheesy...not only is cheesiness acceptable but it is endorsed. The cheesier, the better. My forte.
Here is a run down of our V-day:
This year we had some of our bestest friends (They will also be in Austin's office this summer) hang out with us on Valentines day. We say Valentine's day is about ALL the people you love--Not just the ONE you love. The more, the Merrier.
First on the to-do list: wake up way too early to surprise the boys with breakfast. Way too early meant 8:30 AM-- much too early on a holiday. Candles a must.
Second, make Austin's absolute favorite breakfast (and I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't Tysen's favorite now too) ICE CREAM SUNDAE WAFFLES. The ice cream started to melt a little bit because Tysen got in the shower right as we were going to wake them up.
Next, blind fold them for effect. I guess blind folding wasn't necessary since they both had been awake for awhile waiting for us to come get them from their beds. I'm sure they knew what we were up to. I am not a quiet cook. But we still made them close their eyes.
Next, Dig in. That he did.
Present him with his "card". A candy poster. I felt like I was in highschool again. Cheesiness factor--HIGH!
Breakfast was delightful. Thank goodness for self-timers on cameras.
Next on the agenda--Let the boys pick WHATEVER it is they wanted to do. They chose racing go-karts. Can't get much more romantic than going high way speeds round and round on a track, being bumped by oncoming karts that want to go faster than you all the while wondering what is wrong with your kart because the steering wheel is so dang tight, smelling gas fumes that only increase your belief that something is truly wrong with your kart--only to realize that the gas fumes are coming from your clothes and they won't come out even after repeated washes. No but really, it was fun. Cheesiness factor-- LOW. Boo!
Don't worry we are all smiling under these helmets.
Austin finally passed the kart in the lead (the owners son that couldn't have been more than 12. He holds the track record by .05 seconds over Austin).
Austin won. Strongbad, you ask? Ever seen homestar runner? Look it up now.
The next thing on the schedule was dinner at Five Alls. Loved it. Service was great, food was superb. Went home with full bellies. It was the fanciest medieval restaurant I've ever been too and I would highly recommend it. It's a hidden gem. Cheesiness factor? Well considering the getup of the servers I would say FAIRLY HIGH.
Austin gave me a card that says something about giving me what I want "all night long". And in the inside it said 2 words... "the covers". It was perfect. I am a cover hog. I got Austin some Rock N Republic jeans (he goes through jeans like I go through...mascara...a tube every other week sounds about right) and I made him a photo book. Have you seen these? They are very cool. Blurp.com has the best tutorials/layouts/etc. It took me over 30 hours to do and I am pretty dang proud of it. I wish there was a way for me to post it on here but next time you come to my house take a look at it, it will be sitting on my coffee table. I can't seem to "shelf" a book that I. myself. alone. created. Cheesiness Factor---VERY HIGH!
Here is a preview of the book:

(As a side note I got these skinny jeans by Rich and Skinny this week and I love, love, love them. They are a MUST have for skinny jean lovers like myself.)
My cute hubby got me 2 dozen roses in a beautiful arrangement from the cute chilean lady that did the flowers for our wedding. He outdid himself.
I also got some gorgeous flowers and a box of chocolates in the mail from my sweet parents.
On our Valentine's day to-d0 list was to see the new Brad Pitt movie (the name is too long for me to type) Austin has been wanting to see since it came out, but we were pooped. So we went home and watched a movie instead.
What a LoVeLy Valentines day. And over all it was pretty cheesy. To me, that's a successful Valentine's day.
Oh, I forgot to mention what Austin got me for Valentine's day! A trip to Vegas to see the Beatles LOVE Cirque Du Soleil show again! So excited! Especially since he will be with me this time!
Speaking of love? Have any of you seen "He's Just Not That Into You"? Yet? Well, I have seen it twice. The second time I went with some very wonderful friends whose company I surely enjoyed but I enjoyed the movie less than the first time.

Don't get me wrong--I liked it but I don't know if I liked it because it was a good movie or if I liked it because I had liked the book so much. Come on, don't tell me when you were single you didn't try to get into the psyche of the opposite sex and figure out the "signs" as to whether they were "into" you or not. Men were confusing. In retrospect I realize that most of the time they were confusing because they were confused. But alas, reading He's Just Not That Into You was like reading the dating bible, giving you insight on the confusing signs of confused men. What a vicious cycle.
Anyway, onto the movie. I enjoyed the actors and the acting. It was funny. It was quirky. I even cried at one point. But overall I'd have to say the movie was just "ok". What are your thoughts?
Hope you all had a splendid V-day with the people you love!

Looks like an ultra cheesy v day. I'm with you though, That is the way it should be. I got this headband the other day, and love it! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=19405412
Fun Valentines!! I enjoyed the company more than the movie but it was fun to get out and hang with the girls! Your jeans look super cute! See you soon I am sure!
Fun girly!! I wish I was there with you girls to see the flick. I actually really liked it. I don't critize movies that much though. It was what I expected. My question is where do you find one of those Ben Affleck guys, do they really exsist. Maybe I should take Zac and tell him to watch and learn LOL. JK. Loves
ohhh also. I really wanna see your photo book. I am in the process of doing crae s first year in one of those books using blurb and I really like it but was worried if the finished product would turn out good. I am glad to know that you have used it and have liked the finished project that makes me even more excited to finish it!!!
You look fabulous in your skinny jeans!
Of course I want to go to the OG again...and soon! I wonder how come Tara laughed when you asked her to make that for us?! I am pretty flexible with my schedule on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays so whenever is good for you two. Monday and Wednesday I am working for my brother in FG so those days are usually busy. Just let me know, I am always up for a five hour long lunch...especially when its with you and Tara!
PS. what did you think of Jack this week!? I seriously love Monday nights!
