my life as of late.

i wrote this post a few months ago and forgot to post it. oh well. i have many, many more updates to post. until then...

I really detest luggage at the moment. Not the actual article itself (because really luggage can be quite cute, especially vintage luggage) but I hate that my representation of luggage has changed over the past little while. Luggage used to mean TRIPS and TRAVELING, vacations, adventures, and FUN. Now it means the start of a new work week. Yes folks, I live out of a suitcase 4 days a week. I don't even unpack anymore. It makes life hard. My hubby is a bachelor for half of the week. I think he secretly loves it. Or not so secretly as I hear him routinely tell his friends "when my wife is at work this week, let's_____ (go look at cars, play video games, have a "zombie night", go to a movie, go to the gym, go racing...insert desired action word here).
A lot of people have asked about my "job"--likes its a mysterious, glamorous thing I "travel" for. I wish. (I am going to Canada for a conference...does that count?)
My job title? Director. Essentially, I am a consultant. I am the "go-to gal" (as I call it) so I pretty much have to know everything about everything. Simple enough, right?  I work 2 hours from my house not overseas or across the country or even out of state. When I think of my job these descriptions come to mind: train, evaluate, consult, write policies, review/edit policies, review current laws/regulations/codes for compliance, improve programmatic procedures, audit stuff and consult some more.
There you have it. Enjoyable? Some days. Rewarding? Occasionally. Difficult? Definitely.
I do appreciate that I am using my degree(s) however. I didn't go to school for nothing, right? At least that's what I tell myself!

so far in 2010 I:

.took a photography class. Wowsa. SO fun. I love it and am going to be taking the advanced class next month! Along with a photoshop class and any other photography classes I can get my hands on.

.got scuba certified. Have trouble equalizing because of small eustacian tubes in my ears. Got an ear infection. Dove to 60 feet with an ear infection. Blew BOTH ear drums. The ENT said my right ear was one of the worst she had seen! Had a TON of pain and loss of hearing. Still recovering--still can't hear 100% in my right ear (hopefully that comes back!). We dove a couple of times in Hawaii (more on that) and I LOVED it.

.took a furniture painting/antiquing/refinishing/aging class and painted a stool. Very cool. I learned a lot of good techniques. Now I just need to find something to re-finish.

Upcoming:
Austin and I were going to take a dance class together but he ended up having meetings the same night as the classes--BUT I am going to learn to SaLsa! (he already knows how, of course!). Thanks Abish!

Also, I am taking a sewing class. WOO HOO. I can't wait. I have wanted to learn how to sew for so long.

 I {heart} learning.

Everyone has been asking where we will be living this summer.

"New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of,
There's nothing you can’t do,
Now you're in New York.
These streets will make you feel brand new,
the lights will inspire you,

Let's hear it for New York, New York, New York."

 I am one excited lady.

{Good things are in the future.}

Your job sounds like something I wouldn't understand in a million years, and you sound super important! NYC again? That's awesome. I would have died and gone to heaven if Greg sold in NYC one summer. And blog about your vacations please!
